Today's Verse - Romans 1:20

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. (NIV)

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. (NLT)

From the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly observed in what he made. As a result, people have no excuse. (GW)

Today's Verse - Deuteronomy 6:4-8

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.

Today's Verse - Jeremiah 17:14

Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed;
   save me and I will be saved,
   for you are the one I praise.

O Lord, if you heal me, I will be truly healed;
      if you save me, I will be truly saved.
      My praises are for you alone!

Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed.
      Rescue me, and I will be rescued.
         You are the one I praise.

Today's Verse - Matthew 6:25 & 33

Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (NIV)

I tell you to stop worrying about what you will eat, drink, or wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothes? But first, be concerned about his kingdom and what has his approval. Then all these things will be provided for you. (GW)

Today's Verse - Romans 8:6-8

The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. (NIV)

So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. (NLT)

Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever]. [That is] because the mind of the flesh [with its carnal thoughts and purposes] is hostile to God, for it does not submit itself to God's Law; indeed it cannot. So then those who are living the life of the flesh [catering to the appetites and impulses of their carnal nature] cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him. (AB)

Today's Verse - Proverbs 24:17-20

Do not gloat when your enemy falls;
   when he stumbles, do not let your heart rejoice,
or the LORD will see and disapprove
   and turn his wrath away from him.
Do not fret because of evil men
   or be envious of the wicked,
for the evil man has no future hope,
   and the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out.

Today's Verse - Colossians 4:5-6

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. (NIV)

When you are with unbelievers, always make good use of the time. Be pleasant and hold their interest when you speak the message. Choose your words carefully and be ready to give answers to anyone who asks questions. (CEV)

Behave yourselves wisely [living prudently and with discretion] in your relations with those of the outside world (the non-Christians), making the very most of the time and seizing (buying up) the opportunity. Let your speech at all times be gracious (pleasant and winsome), seasoned [as it were] with salt, [so that you may never be at a loss] to know how you ought to answer anyone [who puts a question to you]. (AB)

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. (NIV)

Never give up praying. And when you pray, keep alert and be thankful. (CEV)

Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. (NLT)

Be earnest and unwearied and steadfast in your prayer [life], being [both] alert and intent in [your praying] with thanksgiving. (AB)

Today's Verse - Isaiah 45:5-7

I am the LORD, and there is no other;
   apart from me there is no God.
I will strengthen you,
   though you have not acknowledged me,
so that from the rising of the sun
   to the place of its setting
men may know there is none besides me.
   I am the LORD, and there is no other.
I form the light and create darkness,
   I bring prosperity and create disaster;
   I, the LORD, do all these things.

   but he who holds his tongue is wise

Today's Verse - Romans 9:20-21

But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’” Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use? (NIV)

Today's Verse - 1 Corinthians 5:11

You must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.(NIV)

I meant that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or is a drunkard, or cheats people. Don’t even eat with such people. (NLT)

But now I write to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of [Christian] brother if he is known to be guilty of immorality or greed, or is an idolater [whose soul is devoted to any object that usurps the place of God], or is a person with a foul tongue [railing, abusing, reviling, slandering], or is a drunkard or a swindler or a robber. [No] you must not so much as eat with such a person. (AB)

Today's Verse - James 1:5-6

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.(NIV)

Today's Verse - James 4:17

Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins. (NIV)

If you don't do what you know is right, you have sinned. (CEV)

Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it. (NLT)

Today's Verse - James 4:4

Don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. (NIV)

Don't you know that if you love the world, you are God's enemies? And if you decide to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.(CEV)

Don’t you know that love for this evil world is hatred toward God? Whoever wants to be a friend of this world is an enemy of God. (GW)
